Sage began her pornography career at age 18 after moving to Riverside, California, and dancing at a nearby strip club with an adult bookstore attached. Six months later, in 1998, she was recruited by an adult talent manager and began to model for adult magazines. Her family was supportive of her career choice. She chose her stage name from Adriana, her real first name, and Sage after the X-men comic book character.

She began her career in adult film in 1999. Early in her career she did mostly hardcore scenes, but became increasingly interested in doing softer lesbian movies.

By the beginning of 2003, she had begun building up her web presence and reentered the business after a short hiatus.

Sage is currently semi-retired, having decided to no longer perform in heterosexual sex scenes. Her last heterosexual scene was in 2001. She continues to pose and shoot videos exclusively for her website. She has also begun feature dancing at various gentlemen's clubs.

Sage appeared in an uncut version of the music video for "P.I.M.P." by 50 Cent featuring Snoop Dogg and G-unit members Young Buck and Lloyd Banks. Prozack Turner of the hip-hop band Foreign Legion recorded a love song, "The Ballad of Adriana Sage" in honor of, and addressed to, her.

She has resided in Chula Vista, California since November 2003.

Sage has a non-pornographic web site where she shares her National Football League American football picks for each season and allows fans to submit their picks for prizes. Sage says she grew a fan of the San Diego Chargers. According to sports columnist King Kaufman, her picks are more accurate than those of many sports professionals.
